Personal Experience on Negativity, Optimism, and Positive Affirmation

I have a personal experience that relates to the article written in the last post, having to do with a negative thinker (the pessimistic individual), a positive thinker (the optimistic individual), and the situations surrounding them.


Years ago, before I knew anything about the Law of Attraction, I was a very negative thinker. I had no idea that negative thinking would actually degrade my well-being, much-less attract the bad things over and over again. Anyway, the Law of Attraction was working and I always seemed to be “that guy”. I was constantly running into bad situation after bad situation and I wondered why. My best friend at the time is probably one of the most optimistic people I know. I know he didn't know anything about the Law of Attraction or anything like that, but his personality was just that of a positive thinker and he unknowingly gave himself positive affirmations whenever a bad situation would arise.


For example, if we heard some bad news at work, he would constantly point out all of the good things about the situation, which always made the situation seem much better than it really was. Anyway, I didn't put too much thought into his way of thinking at the time, and although I was the one that all the bad things happened to, and everything seemed to always fall into place for him, I just thought it was pure “luck” and I got the short end of the stick.


The moral of the story is that he was optimistic; I was pessimistic. He got his way most of the time; I didn't. Do you see a correlation between the two ways of thinking and how affirmations come into play in that scenario? That is a real-life example of how positive affirmations, positive thinking/optimism can have a significant impact on what you attract into your life.


And for the record, I am a positive thinker now, and am not nearly as “unlucky” as I was back then.

How to Create Your Own Internal Positive Affirmation System

Far too many people degrade themselves with negative thoughts or feelings. This will hinder your ability to achieve your goals and dreams. You need to transform these negative emotions or thoughts into positive ones. The more positive you are, the more optimistic you will be and optimism is the number one quality for success. You can do a lot of things to change your attitude and become more positive and optimistic to attract more success in your life. A very simple yet powerful method is using daily positive affirmations, with a condition.


Recitation of daily positive affirmations with conviction will help you lead a happier, healthier and more comfortable lifestyle. I repeat that: recitation of daily positive affirmations with conviction will help you lead a happier life. Did you notice the most important word in that sentence? It is the word conviction.


When you can recite or read positive affirmation with conviction, you will see success in your life. If you don’t believe or think you deserve to be healthy, wealthy or happy, you won’t. It’s that simple. Affirmations are not “the” solution. If it was, everybody would be rich and successful because everybody can read and recite something.


If you believe and think you deserve success, affirmations can easily improve your outlook on life, help you feel healthier and vibrant, allow you to live a more comfortable life, promote prosperity and good fortune in life, help you achieve your personal and career goals or help you overcome negative thought patterns and produce positive ones.


Using affirmations is not an instant process, but with time and daily use, you should notice an important change in your life. You will notice a shift from negative to positive thinking and thought patterns, and that is exactly what you want to happen in your life.


Before using affirmations, I advice you to do 3 things: create a vision for your life, enhance your self esteem and change the limiting beliefs that hold you back from success. Once you do that, using affirmations will be a piece of cake for you because your thoughts will be more focused. You will then create your own internal “positive affirmation system” and you won’t even need to read a piece of paper 20 times a day. Everything will be automatic. Health, wealth and happiness will be naturally manifested into your life, without any effort.

How Positive Affirmation Works With The Law Of Attraction

Before I get into how affirmations affect the Law of Attraction, and what is brought into (attracted into) your life, first I'll go what exactly affirmations are, and what a positive affirmation is. Affirmations are simply spoken words, either by you, or someone else, that are directed towards YOU, that either consciously or subconsciously affects you in some way. An example affirmation would be “I love my job and am happy to be there every morning.” That is an example of a positive affirmation. The following is a negative affirmation: “I hate my job and I cannot wait until this weekend.”

The more you hear an affirmation, the more it will become a reality to you, even if it is not true at first. If you truly do not enjoy your job, you'll notice things start to change after repeating affirmations (that are positive) about it...and it might take longer depending on how untrue that affirmation is at first. Here is another example of a negative affirmation: “I don't hate my job and I am not unhappy to be there.” While that affirmation may sound positive in nature, it is a negative affirmation because of all the negative words in it (don't, hate, not, unhappy). You must make sure to make your affirmations purely positive by eliminating all negative words and context. Instead, that affirmation could be stated as: “I love my job and I'm happy to go to work.”

Because our thoughts and emotions often start with words, affirmations (whether positive or negative) have a direct connection to your thoughts and emotions, which in turn has a direct connection with what is currently being attracted into your life, whether or not you can see it yet or not. Therefore, we must consciously and actively try to block the negative affirmations that we automatically say to ourselves unknowingly, or that we are exposed to from other people. Set aside some time in the morning and the evening (and possibly the afternoon) to give yourself positive affirmations. Think about the things you do not like and give yourself positive affirmations about those things, and try not to evoke any bad emotions regarding those things.

Thinking negatively will cause us to subconsciously and unknowingly give ourselves negative affirmations, which serve to attract the very things we want to avoid. This is why your positive affirmation is so important. If you are serious about using the Law of Attraction to achieve what you want in life, it is very important to make positive affirmations part of your day. It is not difficult, it is not complicated, and it isn't asking for much; but it is just one of the essential ingredients to taking full advantage of the Law of Attraction to attract the things you want, not the things you do not want.

Negative thoughts and affirmations will hinder what you attract into your life. It is important to recite, or read out loud your positive affirmations because when you just think of them, you are subjecting yourself to “thinking” a negative affirmation on top of the positive one, so just to be safe, be sure to recite or read your positive affirmations aloud. Using Positive Affirmations to Achieve Success

Although people do not always realize it, they can often be limited in what they can achieve by mental boundaries. These mental boundaries can in turn be overcome by positive affirmations and affirmation enhancement. When a person is mentally limited, they may find that they are unable to complete a task or goal that they are aiming for. Whether this is career progression, overcoming money problems or even passing a driving test; being able to understand and achieve your full potential can be difficult.


Very few people manage to achieve exactly what they want to in life. Those that manage to achieve everything that they want to tend to be good at entering into a dialog with their sub-conscious and they also tend to be open-minded as far as their perception of the potential for human-achievement goes. Positive affirmations help people achieve what they want to, and live a more fulfilling life; those that are able to free their mind to the potential for physiological modeling often manage to achieve much more than those who are skeptical from the outset.


While some people may decide that they wish to achieve financial success, others may wish to find love, or re-unite with their family for example. The truth is that everyone has the power within, and the ability to absorb enough power, to achieve their absolute full potential – through using the process of affirmation enhancement coupled with daily affirmation you can achieve exactly what you have set as your goals. While goal setting is important, you should not lose sight of how you enjoy yourself on a daily basis. That is why, with experience, you may start to use your daily affirmations as a means of ensuring that you are able to enjoy yourself on a day-to-day basis, as well as achieving strategic happiness.


As people realize, our goals can often change. One day we may wish that we were able to play an instrument for example, and then as we start to learn how to play it, the fun associated with it can often disappear. This is an example of a gateway to happiness, rather than happiness itself. For example, you may wish to learn to drive; however you only want to be able to drive so that you can work in your dream job that deems that you need a driver’s license. The driver’s license is a gateway, and in fact so is the job – everyone makes goals which they set as a means of achieving happiness. Which begs the question: can you merely affirm towards happiness, rather than the means of getting you there?


The answer is no. Through merely aiming towards your end goal of happiness, rather than the strategy to get you there, you will lose focus on what you enjoy, as well as the trial and tribulation involved in finding true happiness. While happiness is subjective, using affirmations as a means to get there can be the best solution for those with an open mind.

It is important to use positive affirmations to get rid of the mental barriers that we have placed on ourselves involuntarily. Of course, when you subject yourself to positive affirmations that you do not believe, your mind will reject them at first. You must be persistent and continue to positively affirm to yourself the things that you do not believe, and soon you will see you are molding, or attracting that which your mind was rejecting at first. When your mind is rejecting an affirmation, it will feel as though you are lying to yourself. This is completely normal. All you have to remember is to try your hardest to fight the resistance, and remain persistent.

Positive Daily Affirmations

Having positive daily affirmations in your life can only help you in whatever you want to achieve with your life. It has long been believed that repeatedly affirming quotes that are relevant to what you wish to achieve can enhance change. Some use affirmations to help them lose weight while others use positive affirmation to bring prosperity into their lives.


How this is believed to happen is reportedly due to the sub conscious mind being told what to believe. The sub conscious mind does not reason or any free will, it will believe whatever you tell it to if you say it often enough. There are documented reports that show that criminals who recite their defense posture often enough actually believe it is true after a period of time, even when it is proven later that it is completely false the criminals still believe in their own version and cannot be dissuaded form that belief, of course if they were repeatedly given daily affirmations to the effect of their guilt over a period of time they would also start to believe they were guilty.


This ability to control the sub conscious can be used by us all to improve our beliefs about ourselves. If through childhood abuse or trauma we have beliefs that are unproductive then if we decide we want to change them, we can. If you were told as a child you were dumb and stupid often enough you would actually believe you are because of the daily affirmation coming from your parents even though you actually are no less intelligent than the other people your age.


The structure of the positive daily affirmation is important as we can waste our time if it is not constructed in the right way. For example, telling yourself that you do not want something in your life is not a correct affirmation, what you should be saying what you actually want in your life not what you don’t want. As you can see there are small differences that can make a huge difference to the outcome.

The Law of Attraction - More Than Goal Setting and Affirmations Alone

Did you know that every thought that we think creates a vibration? Negative thoughts create negative feelings that lead to low frequency vibrations, whereas positive thoughts create positive feelings that produce high frequency vibrations. According to the universal Law of Attraction, "vibes" attract like "vibes". Have you ever noticed how, when you're feeling down and depressed, you attract situations that are in line with your state of mind? So logically, the key to attracting only the things that you desire into your life, is to vibrate positive energy. Okay, that sounds simple enough...but how do you DO that?

We spend far too much time worrying -- about the future, about paying the bills, about upcoming exams, about our health, about getting that promotion. What we're actually doing when we worry about any situation, is concentrating all our energy on something that we don't want. Hate, worry, fear, jealousy, anger, sadness are all emotions that make us vibrate negatively. By focusing on unwanted situations we are actually attracting the exact situations that we want to avoid! We would be doing ourselves a favor by focusing only what we DO want, instead of wasting time and energy on the things that we DON'T want.


Opposites Do Not Attract


Obviously, no one can feel good all day long, every day. The key is to do the things that make you feel good as often as you can. Play uplifting music while you drive to work, avoid the television programs that produce negative feelings, don't read the newspaper if the content affects you negatively. Interact only with positive-minded people... just let go and have fun! Learn to monitor your thoughts...if you notice yourself thinking a negative thought, immediately negate its effect by focusing on something that makes you feel good. Remember, there is nothing more important than feeling good! Keep a photo of your kids or pet or favorite actor nearby to help you make that switch. Be grateful for the things that are going well in your life. Do whatever it takes to generate that upbeat feeling, because opposites do not attract...but like certainly will attract like. The Law of Attraction is on the mark each time and it does not make mistakes!

In order to get what you desire in life, you have to give those desires regular attention. Fantasize, dream, imagine, focus... for what you create in your mind, you create in reality. If it's a specific car that you want, order a brochure of it and look through it every day. Think about what color you want and which accessories and options your model has. If it's a fantasy vacation in the Maldives or the Caribbean, compile your own colorful screensaver, fantasize about those white beaches and crystal clear waters abundant with tropical fish. Paste pictures of your dream home or that sleek yacht that you desire on a board and look at it often. Be excited about it! Focus wholeheartedly and with certainty on what you want, and do so in this moment. Believe that you have what you desire now, today, in this present moment. Focus on how good that makes you feel, and try to generate that feeling as often as you can.


Don't confuse the Law of Attraction by being inconsistent in your desires. Don't keep changing your mind, otherwise there's no way for what you ask for to find its way to you. Be consistent, be determined...but leave the "how" out of it. If you decide the method and schedule by which your desires will come to you, you're limiting your possibilities to only what you can think of. After all, what if there's something better out there than what you can imagine? Just trust that it is happening now and allow it to come to you. Follow where your intuition leads you. Don't worry about it, don't look for proof, don't start doubting.


Affirmations are a form of advertising


If you do find that doubts and negative self-talk are getting in your way, you can apply positive affirmations. When used consistently, affirmations will do away with your limiting beliefs and replace them with thoughts that will help you achieve what you desire. Does advertising work? Sure it does - there's a multibillion dollar industry that proves it and affirmations are a form of advertising with only you as the target audience. Affirmations must be stated in the "I" form, in the present tense and always positively. They should also invoke a positive emotion. For instance: "I deserve large sums of money that allow me to have more fun with my family", "I choose to effortlessly earn $100,000 per year", "I enjoy working out regularly and maintaining a trim and slim body that turns heads", "I choose to attract only healthy and positive people into my life who help me achieve my goals"; "I choose to create a positive, healthy and joyful lifestyle for myself". You can write them down every day, or use them as a screensaver, or buy special affirmation or goal setting software that you can use on your computer.


If you're skeptical about how the Law of Attraction can affect you, just try being happy and positive for a month. It will amaze you how easy it is to get things going your way in that short period of time. A lot can be achieved in relatively little time -- why waste any of it by being negative? Get out there and manifest what you want!

You may not always believe what you are telling yourself when using positive affirmations because of the fact that you are so used to being exposed to negative thoughts, negative affirmations, and self-defeating beliefs. As long as you continue to consistently use positive affirmations and constantly make them part of your day, your mind will begin to believe them and your life will begin to go in the direction you want. For example, if you were to wake up every morning and tell yourself, “I hate my job. I don’t want to go today.” What do you think the chances will be that you will enjoy your day at work, and be eager to go there tomorrow? However, if you were to tell yourself, whether you believe it or not, “I love my job and I can’t wait to start my day.” You’ll begin to see a positive change, as long as you stay consistent, and try your best to believe it (it becomes easier over time).
